about Lisa
Although originally from Carmarthen, Lisa returned to West Wales in 2004 with her family, bought a smallholding near Nantgaredig, Carmarthen and has enjoyed raising her 5 children in a rural (and very much a farming) environment.
Lisa now runs ‘The Pumpkin Patch Kitchen and Garden’ a cookery and gardening school at ‘Y Sied’, a renovated barn at her home in White Mill.
“I try to link the growing and cooking of our food, bringing a real understanding of where the food comes from and what we can do with it! As a qualified teacher, an enthusiastic cook and gardener and an experienced mother, Lisa loves the opportunity of being able to share these skills with others by visiting schools all over Wales, & by helping to set up school gardens, and by involvement in community projects.
Lisa enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for wholesome home made food with others, but some events certainly sand out ‘cooking some traditional Welsh recipes at Borough Market has been a real highlight, as has attending the Feast marquee at Tatton Park RHS show. Discussing the secret ingredient of Welsh cakes with Chris Evans on his Radio 2 show, is also certainly up there with the memories of 2018!’
Lisa is a regular cook on S4C’s daytime Prynhawn Da and Heno programmes and on Radio Wales and Radio Cymru. She published her first cookbook Blas /Taste by Gomer Press in 2017, which was followed by Dathlu/Celebrate also by Gomer Press in Dec 2018.
a tip my grandmother taught me… “don’t put it down, put it away!!” this really does help to keep a tidy kitchen!
